Hazard Protection

Hazard Protection Guide

Every hazard demands a specific solution. Browse certified PPE and workwear matched to the risks your workforce faces.

From FR clothing rated for flash fire to arc-flash suits, chemical-resistant coveralls, and high-visibility gear — Universal Markets Company stocks solutions for every hazard class recognised by Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and EPC contractors operating in the Kingdom.

Flame & Heat

Garments rated to EN ISO 11612 and NFPA 2112 protect against flash fire, convective heat, radiant heat, and molten metal splashes. FR fabrics self-extinguish on removal of the ignition source, minimising burn injury. Required for all personnel in hydrocarbon processing, oil & gas operations, and any environment where flash fire is a credible risk.

Arc Flash

Arc flash events release intense thermal energy in fractions of a second. Clothing rated to NFPA 70E and IEC 61482 is classified by Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV) in cal/cm² — the higher the rating, the greater the protection. Coveralls, face shields, hoods, and gloves must be matched to the calculated incident energy of the task.

Chemical Splash

Type 6 and Type PB[6] garments certified to EN ISO 13034 provide limited protection against liquid chemical splash and spray. Chemical-resistant gloves rated to EN 374 and sealed footwear complete the ensemble. Essential in laboratory, chemical processing, maintenance, and hazmat response environments.

Cut & Impact

Cut-resistant gloves rated to EN 388 with performance levels A–F guard hands against mechanical injury. Cut-resistant sleeves, pants, and aprons are available for higher-exposure tasks such as sheet metal handling, glass processing, and fabrication work. Always match the cut level to the specific blade or edge risk.

Hi-Vis

EN ISO 20471 Class 1, 2, and 3 garments incorporate fluorescent background material and retroreflective tape to make wearers conspicuous under any light condition — including at night under vehicle headlights. Class 3 provides the highest coverage and is mandatory for road workers, airport ground crews, and railway maintenance personnel.

Eye Protection

Safety glasses, goggles, and face shields certified to EN 166 protect against flying particles, chemical splash, UV/IR radiation, and laser hazards. Lens marking codes indicate protection class, optical quality, and resistance level. Indirect-ventilated goggles are required for chemical splash risk; face shields supplement, not replace, primary eye protection.

Head Protection

Industrial hard hats and safety helmets certified to EN 397 protect against falling objects, lateral compression, and electrical hazards. Bump caps offer protection in low-headroom environments. Integrated visor and hearing protection attachments allow single-piece PPE ensembles for complex multi-hazard environments.

Hand Protection

The right glove depends on the specific hazard — cut-resistant fibres for mechanical risk (EN 388), nitrile or neoprene for chemical exposure (EN 374), and aluminised leather for heat and molten metal (EN 407). Selecting by hazard type and task duration prevents both under-protection and the dexterity loss that leads to errors.
